MindTheGap (Susi Claus) feat. Rike Schuberty (Germany)
"Stay in the house. Close the windows and doors. Lie down on the floor. Tell your loved ones that you love them."
A rural idyll. A small house and two people. They sit at dinner, they listen to the news, they go to sleep and get up again. As the performance progresses, two people are left to their own devices, caught between shock and repression, powerless in the midst of political world events.
In "3 Minuten - Fallout mit Katze" by and with Susi Claus and Rike Schuberty, the protagonists have exactly three minutes until the end. "3 Minutes" is an interdisciplinary evening about the nuclear emergency. With puppets, live music, video art and radio play elements. Even if it is "only" a piece of puppet theater with subversive, subtle humor, it inevitably evokes a quiet, perhaps even startling horror at the state of our world.
Susi Claus studied puppetry at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. After working as a puppeteer at the tjg (theater junge Generation) in Dresden, she has been working as a freelance puppeteer and director for many years. Since 2018, she has also been the artistic director of the Homunculus puppet theater festival in Hohenems, Austria. Together with Peter Müller (Theater Handgemenge), she presented the endearing shadow play "Der Morgen kann warten" as part of "Off Europa: Heimat Landschaften".
Rike Schuberty also studied puppetry at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. She has been producing her own theater works as a freelancer since 2002 and is active in various bands and artist collectives.
