On his 34th birthday, a history teacher corrects pupils' essays. Although he is against the National Socialists and their ideals, he leaves even the worst passages uncommented. Out of fear, he conforms to the system. When the work is handed back, he allows himself to remark that "Negroes" are people too. The pupils then demand a different teacher. Now both parties, the teacher and the pupils, see the other as the opponent.
During the Easter vacation, the class goes to a camp to get close to and follow military training. On the camp, events come thick and fast: Theft, brawls and a murder are on the agenda. The subsequent court case raises a number of questions...
