Johannes Hoffman, born in Graz in 1981, is an author, actor and transdisciplinary artist.
He studied acting at the MUK Vienna (2001-2005), scenic writing (2011-2013) at the FORUM Text/uniT Graz and the Master of Arts in Transdisciplinarity at the ZHDK Zurich (2017-2021).
As an actor, permanent engagements have taken him to the stages of Graz and the Theater Paderborn. Guest engagements include: Volkstheater Vienna, Theater in der Josefstadt Vienna, Gostner Hoftheater Nuremberg, Tafelhalle Nuremberg, Theater Regensburg, Stadttheater Fürth and Schauspielhaus Salzburg.
His plays have been performed at the Burgtheater in Vienna, Staatstheater Mainz, Kosmos Theater Bregenz, Heimathafen Neukölln, Next Liberty Graz, TaO Graz, Divadlo Feste Brünn (Czech Republic) and at the Tafelhalle Nürnberg, among others.
In 2023 he was awarded the "Große Kunststipendium für Darstellende Kunst des Landes Burgenland", in 2022 he won the DKV sponsorship award by ZHDK Zürich, in 2021 the Retzhofer Drama Award for "junges Publikum", in 2013 the Literature Award of the city of Graz and in 2012 the play competition "Text trifft Regie" at the Staatstheater Mainz. He has received the Playwright scholarship from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture several times and a work grant from Pro Helvetia Switzerland in 2020. Several artist-in-residence stays have taken him to the Czech Republic and Poland.
